Crew Brody Johnson

Crew was born exactly one week before his due date thanks to a scheduling issue (clerical error). We had been planning on friday the 19th for his birthday but when I found out I was never put on the surgery schedule, one of the surgeons told me to come in on the 18th instead even though they don't do planned csections on thursdays. I was told June was the worst month to have a csection at SAMC because of understaffing and full schedules. It worked out to our benefit though! I was able to get plenty of sleep the night before since we didn't need to be to the hospital until 11:30, and I had been feeling great. I was surprised to find out that I was having contractions, the entire time I thought it was just "baby boy" moving around.

Jer and I made sure to let everyone that took part in the surgery know that I get really sick afterwards. This hospital staff did an amazing job of making sure that didn't happen this time around. The anesthetists took plenty of time dosing my spinal and epidural and kept me on anti nausea meds. It makes a huge difference not being sick after abdominal surgery!!

Last belly shot and man was I nervous!!

Just being a big blue smurf

Here's "Baby Boy"! He's our only one who came out of surgery with a war wound... The resident nicked his head with the scalpel just above his right ear. Jer got to cut shorten the cord just after the big guy was born.

perfect.

Grandma and the big brothers came to the hospital that evening. This is so crazy for me to see my first baby hold the official baby.

We didn't get a picture of Cael the first day but we did the second day. Cael loves to hold Crew. He was so sweet with him and pointed out that the baby has a nose just like he does.

Meeting Grandma

Jer and I each had a name we were leaning towards so "baby boy" was referred to as infant male for his first 24 hours.

Crew had a touch of skin sensitivity (Brock did, too) for a day or two.

The boys made some welcome home signs and hung blue balloons...the pink "it's a girl" balloon floating along the ceiling was from one of Jer's coworkers who was pretty embarrassed when she came to visit us thinking we had a girl. Apparently they don't follow attention to detail on that floor;) I don't think Crew minded.

Welcome to the family sweet little Crew! You are loved!
