Really it doesn't seem that long ago when we decided to run a marathon (click here to remember) After miles and hours of training, Jer and I have officially ran our marathon!!! The 26.2 miles dropped 1500 feet, with the majority during the first half. We knew what the course was like and heard from other runners to take the first half easy cause it's hard on your quads. But our quads still KILLED us! It hit me hard at mile 18 when my hamstrings were on the verge of cramping up (after another stinkin downhill). The pain got worse and worse and I was honestly wondering what I got myself into!! My facial expression must have been showing how I felt cause I had a few people at the aid stations ask me if I was o.k.! Jer said he was around mile 21 when his legs started crapping out and the long stretch that we had done so much running on from our training was never ending!

Lieutenant Colonel DeWalt (Jer's commander) came to cheer him on and took this picture just before mile 22
Mom snapped a picture just before Jer made the 1/2 mile stretch to the finish line!

Just a few seconds away from being a MARATHON RUNNER!!!

Yes, that is pain on his face.
Troy met me to run a few yards just before the finish line

Another shot before he left me for his G'ma and Dad

Just a few seconds away from being a MARATHON RUNNER!

We were able to stand for a few pictures afterwords but you would have laughed at us trying to walk!!!

Finisher's Metals, no we didn't place but we finished!
Our boys enjoyed having G'ma around, we sure did too! And we appreciate everyone's encouragement and good luck wishes, THANKS EVERYONE!!! It was definitely worth it!

Congratulations to both of you! Did it feel like it would never end? Troy looked so cute running with you. Are you planning on running another marathon anytime soon?
Congratulations Lacey! I have been wondering about your training and your marathon goal since our 10 mile talk in Rexburg. It's such a great feeling to have accomplished that goal! It was a pleasure to meet you and run with you in June. Maybe we can meet there again in 2010? Congratulations again, Lisal Drollinger
What a great thing for you two to do. I'm so proud of you. I know that I couldn't do it. Congratulations!!!! You should come to St. George and do the St. George marathon. I think it is in about 3 weeks. I'm not sure how long it is. You'ld have a place to stay.
