Sledding with Cousins, Sledding with Friends

(posted 4.6.18)

Growing up, my family hit up the field all the time for sledding adventures. Dad's truck, Ol' Blue, took us for countless rounds through the field. The type of "sled" itself was usually an adventure in and of itself. The best rides were always when we would all pile onto a big section of silage tarp and hang on for our lives as we would rip around in circles. When the kid in front lost their hold, they would slide back on the tarp onto the kid behind them. If that kid couldn't hold on, then the two would slide into the third kid, continuing down the tarp until there was a big snowball of kids rolling down the field, no longer on the tarp! The worst part of this type of sled was hitting those blasted frozen cow pies. That just hurt. Gosh. Those even hurt to hit when we were on the typical plastic sleds!

These kids pilled in on Grandpa's sled and rode until they froze.

Cael preferred riding and laughing.

These guys had a ride that made me die of laughter. Grandma had just gotten after Grandpa telling him to take it easy and not hurt the kids. Moments later he spun them around just before the side of the sled rode up on a large rock and they all dumped out when he gunned it. There were tears and there was laughter (mostly because we knew Grandpa was going to get in trouble for that one!)

Pilot and Copilot

Livi and Eli crack me up! When it's cold and the snow won't stop flying up on your face, you cover it up!

These pics were from the day after Christmas. Our friends invited the boys to the pit for some sledding.

And more sledding with Ty and Bella!
