Official Acorn Pickers

We had collected a fairly decent pile of acorns so I could make a wreath I saw on Pinterest. I spread the pile on our backyard patio area to dry out and we soon discovered we had an acorn thief. A beautiful Blue Jay was feasting on our harvest. After about a week of him picking over the acorns, Troy and Brock covered them up with our fire pit cover since the bird wouldn't stop stealing "Mom's acorns". When I finally got around to making the wreath, I barely had half the acorns I needed. So, we set out to collect more acorns, making sure to grab a few extra to feed our new bird friend. Here's our acorn pickin' adventure:

The finished product looked pretty darn good the whole EIGHT hours it hung on the front door. When Jer came home from work last night he told me the wreath was face down with busted off acorns all over.  Boo. Guess I'll be shopping for an over-the-door hook. Meanwhile, Mr. BlueJay has a heaping pile of acorns in our backyard.
