G'ma and G'pa J and Travis (Jer's youngest brother) visited for a week and we crammed in lots and lots of fun. We went to Seattle for a day; it was a little scary parking under the viaduct where two vehicles had their windows smashed in. Thankfully, our vehicle was untouched but it's eerie knowing that someone was checking for valuables left out in the open. We made it to the Seattle aquarium for our first time

The octopus was a favorite. Such a nasty looking sea creature!![]() |
We went to Pike's Place and it was the busiest we have ever seen! There were way too many people but we elbowed our way through the market.

The last item on my Washington bucket list has been checked off! We made it to the Troll Bridge!! It's in such a random place but was pretty neat and not far from Pikes Place. I had a good laugh when I asked someone to take our picture and told everyone to, "run to the Troll!" and everyone took me seriously and ran :) (Yes, that is a real Volkswagen under the troll's hand and a bum sleeping in the corner of the picture)
We walked around the Space Needle and ended up at the water fountain. Troy couldn't help himself and got sprayed after "teasing" the big hemisphere. He just had to touch it.
Grandpa J loves his car shows so we walked around one before going to the Olympia Farmers Market. The boys loved the cars.
We spent a day at Ocean Shores. It's usually chilly there but with our half tent blocking the breeze it was perfect. Troy and Brock could play there for so long…little beach bums.
Our kids enjoyed a pizza party with a babysitter while we went to Buds Inlet to kayak. We shared the low down of our tandem kayak experience while in Hawaii and even after the workers nudged Lori to take out a tandem with Bryan since it would be a "little more stable", she turned them down because she didn't trust being with Bryan in one. She made the right choice! After the worker had Bryan in his kayak, we all could see it wasn't going to work. Jer paddled over to get a waterproof bag saying that, "He's going to dump us both" and just as they handed Jer his bag, Bryan rolled his kayak!!! Travis and Lori were so matter-of-fact when they said, "oop, there he goes." We all had a good laugh, including Bryan, and he didn't loose either his hat or glasses!
After the roll over they put Bryan in a more sturdy/wider kayak. They knew they should have to begin with so that, combined with Jeremy helping them haul all of the kayaks down to the dock got us two hours of free kayak rentals! (Thank you Bryan, again, for rolling out!)
The weather was perfect and it was fun seeing jelly fish and some harbor seals swim and bark around us
We also went down to our favorite beach, Burfoot, to explore
Ate a ton; Travis cooked a delicious dinner of egg rolls and sweet and sour chicken, and some yummy hummus
Drove over the Narrows and enjoyed some Ben and Jerry's ice-cream
Relaxed for a day which involved the boys' much anticipated water fight
Lite off some dull sparklers left over from the fourth
