This Old Couch

(posted Jan. 28, 2018)

We bought a new couch and love seat in WA and added on the three year warranty. The couch made it 4 years before it deteriorated rapidly. Never again will we try to save a little and go with pleather. I first covered the pealing by hot gluing leather sections on the worse parts. That worked, until the entire couch peeled away. I covered the cushions with fleece squares, a blanket across the top, and pillows. We were constantly tucking and recovering and cleaning up the brown mess that flaked off. I posted the two beasts on a few local sites, for free, showing the picture below. They had zero takers so Jer threw in on the curb hoping the garbage service would pick it up.

Jer was so worried the garbage workers wouldn't take the couches, leaving us to borrow a truck so we could haul them off and pay to dump them, all while trying to pack up and do all of the tedious items to get checked off post. When I heard the garbage truck driving down our rode, I laughed so hard when I saw Jer jump in the hatch back of the Honda Pilot to spy on them and make sure they took the couches.  Sure enough, they threw the couches in and Jer even took a picture as the truck practically got jammed while crushing them down. Later that day we ran into our next door neighbor who also watched the whole thing go down. He told Jer that he was laughing at himself spying of Jer, spying on the garbage truck as it loaded up our couches!
