Texas Bluebonnets with a little blah

Sometimes we envision things to go a certain way and they turn out better than we had hoped for. Sometimes things turn out being a huge plunk. Sadly, the later of the two happened as we went out on the hunt for some pictures in a bluebonnet field. I had the boys dressed nicely in their new Easter clothes and was really excited to get a nice picture of them in a bluebonnet field. Guess what. The one day that Jer didn't have to work late, the boys didn't have soccer or scouts, and the forecast looked clear and sunny during the "prime blossom time", Cael refused to take a nap. He did, however, fall asleep as we drove to find a field that evening. Since he was still asleep, we parked the car right next to this pretty and quiet little patch and I asked Jer to take a few maternity pics for me before Cael woke up. I'm not anywhere near ready for where I'd like to be in prepping for this little guy's arrival and I was hoping to check off one item on my "would-like-to-do" list. The forecast was a let down and we were immediately covered with dark, heavy clouds accompanied with an unfavorable breeze. By far one of my least favorite times to take pictures. After a few pics our little "bear" woke up and was mad at the world. I knew Cael wouldn't have anything to do with pictures and since it was so dark anyways I wasn't even going to try. We loaded up and now I know for next year when to watch for the bluebonnet season so I can get my four boys in a patch for a picture.

I didn't get to my list of ideas but I kept myself from trashing these pics incase we don't make it out for a little belly pic session, with sunshine, and happy campers, and hopefully hair that will behave in this humid weather :)

I forgot the base to mount my flash on the tripod so Troy was helping out. I warned the boys that they needed to stand right where we told them to avoid running into a rattlesnake or fire ants. He gave me this cute smile while I was trying to figure out why my flash wasn't firing. preggo brain, at least the flash was an easy fix

It's becoming habit that I put off blogging so there's more posts below to catch up for the few months that have slipped on by. I'm ready to get my energy back and work on my time management. Not that I try to compare myself to other people but that single, military-working mom with two kids who we met at soccer who has her boys overlapping basketball with soccer while doing swimming lessons and soon will start up/overlap soccer with football wears me out. I'll take an extra nap for her tomorrow :)
